Frequently Asked Question
What kind of skier is this trip for?
This trip is best suited for experienced backcountry skiers who are confident in steep, complex terrain and variable snow. You should be physically fit and comfortable spending full days on the move in an Arctic mountain environment.
To get the most out of the trip, you should be able to:
- Link medium and short-radius turns in most snow conditions
- Ski with a pack
- Move safely and efficiently in exposed, alpine terrain
- Perform kick turns, side-slips, and snowplows in steep and technical sections
Strong uphill fitness is key — expect full days with 1,000–1,500 m of vertical gain, often with glacier travel and bootpacks.
Do I need to be a ski mountaineer?
No ropework experience is required, but you should be comfortable with exposed terrain, steep skinning, and occasional bootpacking. If you’ve done hut trips or ski traverses in bigger terrain, you’ll be in your element.
How do I get there?
Fly into Tromsø Airport (TOS). We’ll meet you in Tromsø the morning of Day 1 and provide ground transport to Lyngen. Detailed arrival/departure info will be shared once you’re booked.
Can I rent equipment?
We don’t provide rentals directly, but there are great gear shops in Tromsø and Lyngen where you can rent avalanche gear, skis, boots, and more. Let us know what you need and we’ll help point you in the right direction.
What’s the lodging like?
We’ll stay in a clean, comfortable house with shared rooms (two people per room) and a sauna — perfect for post-ski recovery and hanging out in the evenings.
What about food?
All meals are included and designed to keep you well-fuelled for long days. Think hearty, healthy, and satisfying. If you have dietary needs or restrictions, let us know in advance.
Do I need to sign a Waiver?
Yes. All guests are required to sign an ACMG waiver before participating. You can find a copy of the Waiver here
What if the weather is bad?
This is northern Norway — conditions can change fast. The good news is we’ve got a vehicle, local knowledge, and a ton of daylight to keep our options open. We’ll always make the most of what’s available.
Can I buy cancellation insurance through you?
No. We don’t offer insurance, but we strongly recommend purchasing both cancellation and travel insurance. It’s worth it.
How does payment via Wise.com work?
Wise (formerly TransferWise) is a secure and cost-effective way to send international payments. You have two easy options:
- Sign up for a free Wise account – this gives you access to excellent exchange rates and lets you send payments quickly with a debit card, credit card, or direct from your bank.
- Use your regular online banking – we’ll provide you with our Wise account details so you can make a standard bank transfer in your local currency.
Most guests find that signing up for a Wise account is the smoothest option, but we’re happy to help either way.
