Private Guiding
Custom Ski Touring Days in BC
Private ski touring with Linus Persson, ACMG Ski Guide, for small groups with a day or objective in mind.
Built around the group
Built around the group and the conditions.
Some groups come with a specific objective in mind. Others just want a good day of skiing and a plan that makes sense for the conditions.
Before we ski, we’ll talk through your experience, goals, fitness, and what kind of day you’re hoping for. From there, I’ll suggest options and build the plan around the group.
The goal is simple: make good decisions, ski good snow when we can, and have a day that feels worthwhile.
Where we can ski
The right location depends on the day.
Some private days start close to home. Others are worth a longer drive. These are common options, but not the full list. If you have a specific area or objective in mind, or if I have an idea that fits the conditions, we can build the day around that.
Kamloops / Wells Gray area
Quieter terrain, fewer people, and some surprisingly good skiing when the snowpack cooperates. Not every good ski day needs to happen in a famous zone.
Coquihalla
A useful option for day trips and a good middle ground for groups coming from different parts of southern BC.
Rogers Pass / Revelstoke
Big terrain, deep snow, and endless options. A good fit for strong groups, bigger days, and people who want to spend time in classic Interior BC ski touring terrain.
Duffey Lake / Whistler
A good option for coastal snowpacks, alpine objectives, and groups coming from the Coast or looking for something different from the Interior.
Other objectives and one-offs
If you have a line, traverse, zone, or idea you have been thinking about, get in touch. Some of the best private days start with a rough idea and turn into a plan once we look at timing, conditions, and the group.
FAQ
A few common questions
Are you an ACMG guide?
Yes. I am an ACMG Ski Guide. Private days are planned and guided within my professional scope of practice, with objectives chosen around the conditions, the terrain, and the group. You can also read more about my background on the About page.
Do I need to be an expert skier?
No. The day is built around the group. You should be comfortable skiing ungroomed snow, but you do not need to be an expert ski mountaineer. If you are newer to touring, we can keep the terrain and pace appropriate.
I already ski tour. Why hire a guide?
Hiring a guide is not just for beginners. It can be useful when you want to make the most of limited ski days, explore unfamiliar terrain, work toward a bigger objective, or have someone else carry more of the planning and decision-making load.
Can we bring our own objective or idea?
Yes. If you have a line, traverse, peak, or zone in mind, we can talk it through and see if it makes sense. Sometimes the original idea works. Sometimes we adjust it into a better plan based on conditions, timing, and the group.
How many people can join?
Private days usually work best with small groups. Three to four people is often ideal, but smaller or larger groups can work depending on the objective, terrain, and experience level.
Where do you guide?
Common options include the Kamloops and Wells Gray area, the Coquihalla, Rogers Pass, Revelstoke, Duffey Lake, Whistler, and other BC objectives. Other locations or one-off ideas may be possible depending on timing and conditions.
What does it cost?
Private ski touring days generally start around $750–$950/day + GST, depending on the location, group size, objective, and whether travel is required. Send me your dates, group size, and rough idea, and I can give you a realistic quote.
What should I include when I contact you?
Tell me roughly when you want to ski, where you are based, how many people are in your group, and what kind of day you are hoping for. It does not need to be fully figured out. A rough idea is enough to start the conversation.
Have an idea for a ski day?
Tell me what you are hoping for, where you are based, and roughly when you want to go. From there we can figure out if a private day makes sense.
